The studio is completing 15 years this year, and this expansion in Southeast Asia is in alignment with our growth and future ambitions.

2026 has already witnessed several milestones for us, starting with the exhibition of our pavilion, Pentad, which was selected by an esteemed international jury to be a part of ADFF: STIR Mumbai in January. Following its success, it became the only pavilion from the festival to be invited to the India Art Fair in February, making its way to Delhi.
Recently, we launched our latest project in Gurugram, alongside Phillipe Starck, YOO and The Dalcore. Our Founding Director Jonas Upton-Hansen delivered a keynote address at Design Perspective Bengaluru in April, talking about UHA’s relationship with India and plans for the next decade of UHA.
Jonas Upton-Hansen founded the studio in 2011, and was soon joined by Ricardo Mateu, thus establishing the London office. 2013 saw the opening of the Mumbai office, followed by offices in Limassol, Lisbon and Budapest between 2017 and 2019. We recently expanded our presence in India with a new office in Delhi.
The opening of the Jakarta office is the next step in the dynamic growth of the practice, opening up new possibilities and new markets. Our various offices work as one connected entity, applying global trends and expertise to locally-specific conditions of each project.

Indonesia is Southeast Asia’s largest economy, and has already seen a growth of 5.6% in its GDP in the first quarter of 2026. As the studio celebrates its 15th anniversary, we are focusing our efforts on growing roots in new markets and expanding our international presence to deliver innovative design solutions. UHA is driven by collaboration, focused on sustainability and diligent in catering to the contextual needs of every project.

With offices in London, Limassol, Lisbon, Budapest, Taipei, Tokyo, Mumbai, Delhi and now Jakarta, the new office in Indonesia is an important step forward in our journey to solidify our presence in Asia and take on new opportunities and challenges.
