Our collaborative stand with Loco Design has been awarded Best Stand at the inaugural Design Mumbai by the Design Mumbai Selects Jury, formed of Ridhi Kale (Editor of India Today HOME), industrial designer Richard Hutten, Carolyn Larkin (Founding Director of Caro Communications) and Amit Gupta (Editor-in-Chief of STIRworld).

Loco Design have spent the past months developing 'Palodia', a capsule collection of conceptual furniture inspired by the model made a year ago for Reflection—Projection, our 10-year retrospective exhibition in New Delhi. The model itself is a sculptural site section of a 500 metre slice through our design for a new campus for the University of Limassol.
The stand showcased the three new hand-carved pieces of furniture and the original model along side a series of photographs revealing the process and details.

The Design Mumbai Selects Jury members discussing the stand
The Jury chose UHA & Loco Design's stand, according to Hutten, for its "attention to detail and prioritisation of quality”.
"Palodia is a meaningful intersection of art, architecture and design. It translates an architectural project of UHA’s into a sculptural model, and further develops the narrative to produce limited edition design collectibles range for any artistically sensitive interior space
Amit Gupta, Editor-in-Chief of STIRworld
"The silhouette of the building evolves—details stripped and reimagined as a transformation from built form to furniture.

A photograph featuring the model, taken by Joseph R. Goodwin on a visit to Loco Design's manufacturing facility in Gurugram, was on display earlier this summer as part of the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition in London.

"The collection reinforces Design Mumbai’s curatorial positioning, giving a platform to an initiative that blends art, craft and technology seamlessly.”

We were honoured to be part of India's first contemporary design trade show, and are very much looking forward to seeing it grow over the coming years.
